It still amazes me how much Pooler has grown since I was a kid on Tybee. Back then, I only knew one person that lived in Pooler, and it really was an all-day trip to leave the island and go see them. Now, it’s about a 30 minute ride for me from Effingham to pop over and thrift shop.
Nearly New
This store is still pretty new to the area. The proprietor, Elizabeth, is very gracious and always happy to greet visitors. As far as kids stuff, sometimes she has a lot, other times not as much. But one thing I love is that her items are always in great condition. You can find most anything for home decor. I never go to the store without always finding something I would love to have, but may not be able to figure out where to put it in my house so I won’t get in trouble.

Blessingdales

The sales from Blessingdales go to support The Living Vine, a Christian maternity home for young women. Everything in their store is donated. While I support their mission, I have yet to make a purchase from their store. It’s a great place to stop by if you are looking for women’s clothes, but there is a very small selection of clothes for children, and many of the baby and kids items weren’t in the best of shape. They do also have books and housewares and occasionally furniture pieces.

Goodwill
We all know what great deals you can find at Goodwill, but this store doesn’t seem to have quite the selection as the ones on Sallie Mood and Wilmington Island. As with all Goodwills, it’s a matter of what do you need and what can you find. I got some great maternity clothes here, and have often bought bedding and towels to be used for our pet rescue. What drives me the most nuts is that the books section is always such a mess, but I almost always find something in the housewares section to buy on every visit.

Anne’s Thrift Store
This is probably my least favorite place and to be honest, after trying to buy furniture here while I was pregnant, I had such a poor experience I’ve never gone back. The space is very crowded and while there is a large selection of items, don’t even think of negotiating. In fact, don’t even bother to try and ask questions of anyone who works there; either no one is ever available or they can’t be bothered. But, as I said, if you have the patience and are willing to pay, there are plenty of items to be had.
On Hwy 80 just past the Pooler Parkway (if headed away from Pooler)
RE: Annie’s
It always amazes me when you go in a place like this and they aren’t willing to negotiate. It’s like going to a yard sale and finding department store prices on things.
Her items are very over priced for used items and she leaves the bouncers, walkers, swings and other things out in the weather. The kids items outside are always dirty. Items that are donated are left outside in the back of the building in the weather until she puts them out front. If you look at the baby items they are not clean from the dirt blowing in her driveway and wants top dollar for them. I’ve only bought one thing from there because it was still new in the package.
